Earth Walkers in Gallery Kverk 2023
The inspiration for the works in the exhibition at Galleri Kverk was a certain astonishment or aesthetic experience of a form that emerges between the legs, a repeatedly occurring almond shape that forms in the space between the legs when they stand close together. The almond shape,
or Visceca Picses, is symbolic of two worlds meeting, two circles that form a shape when they merge.
Between the legs, the shape is created through the interplay of negative and positive forms, the interaction of material and the absence of material. It is like a marriage between heaven and earth. The almond space is the place where possibilities live, where magic is born, and in that spirit, I created the work. It was hope, not hopelessness, that was at work there. Hope that our journey on earth is heading toward magic.
